Yes, but an analogy could very well be made between the glory days of Feargal when he was the singer of the legendary Undertones and the football then versus now.

If you want a metaphor - the Pommie costume drama Witness for the Prosecution is a recent rerun, broadcast by Auntie desperately regurgitating anything in any timeslot instead of bringing home a couple of overseas correspondents to save a buck. If it was the highest rating program on Friday night it says more about the hopelessly inane viewing public in this country than anything about footy.

Robert Hughes once called Australia the land of the great forget. Well, if you can't recall the storyline of a year old Pommie melodrama you'll probably also forget the repeated Caltoon disaster telecasts that have filled the Friday night timeslot this season.

The deeply irking thing about 80s music and commercial radio stations is the rank hypocrisy that sees those money grabbing b*stards joyfully embracing all the stuff they thought was too out there and radical back then and throwing it into rotation now...

and still missing the good stuff. Which is irking because I've forgotten all the good stuff.

Carlton has played four , Western Bulldogs will play four on Friday night that's been the problem.

I was at a game Friday night several ago at the MCG and Collingwood supporters stayed away to make a stand about Eddie going to wedding in France than the game as the club was in crisis.
The crowd 24,000 was the lowest since 1941.
On the radio Tony Shaw and Matthew Lloyd blamed the poor crowd attendance on the Dockers and we should have never got a prime slot then or in the future and bagged us throughout the game while Collingwood were just as crap.

We played in the GF the year before and Carlton gets four Friday games on winning five games last year.

I gave up my membership this year after 15 years and I don’t regret it one bit. I’m about to send my Foxtel box back as I hardly watch football anymore. I’ve reclaimed my weekends from the AFL and boy does it feel great. Don’t care about things that don’t care about you. The AFL/FFC don’t care about their fans. They rely on tribalism and assume people will just keep coming back every year. If you want to see how a sport responded to it’s fans, look no further than the NBA for how it’s should be done.

I don't mind the footy but I can go psycho with the repetitive commentary. Say something once, why say it again?!

Shot through the heart, Jimb2...

I think it actually qualifies as a 70s song though, yeah?

Just in case, THE killer choon from the 80s might be Blue Monday.

What are you talking about. Falco was at his peak in 1982.

I apologise for that previous comment. It was made out of ignorance.
