I read with sadness the following article on today's ABC on-line site. Given that this incident followed Eddie's game against Freo, I can only hope that this has nothing to do with a Docker's supporter as we should have zero tolerance for this kind of ignorance. While I doubt that Eddie reads this forum, I hope our collective response is somehow able to be shared with him as a sign of support. Freo has a long and proud history of supporting indigenous culture - long may it continue. (And if Eddie would every consider playing in purple he would be welcomed with open arms, not just because his is a quality footballer but because of what an outstanding role model he is for everyone in our community).

To the idiot who insulted Eddie Betts I sincerely hope you do not have an Dockers membership..
Fremantle, and particularly South Fremantle teams have a long history of supporting Aboriginal players in their culture and to have this idiot insult that history and Eddie is disgraceful.
I was fortunate enough to have watched this magical footballer when he played in the primary school system in Kalgoorlie - Boulder during the early 90s. An absolute joy to behold.
I and I am sure thousands of "true purple" supporters sincerely say sorry in the truest meaning for this insult.

At what point do you challenge people sitting around you who are making racist comments and what would you do about it?
Since we’ve been at Optus, people near us have said disparaging things about past indigenous Freo players (with no basis for their comments) and on Sunday, they said hurtful comments about Eddie’s Aunty.
It’s aimed at getting laughs from their mates but is disgusting and disrespectful.
They got the evil eye for the first incident and dismay but no challenge from me on Sunday because I don’t know how to confront them.
Apart from the racism, they are great to sit near as they are passionate and love Freo.
At what point would you tackle them verbally if it continues and what would you say?

You punch them out, go quietly with security out of the stadium and return to your seat the next game. After that you simply point at each one before every game making eye contact. If you do it properly the first time you'll never have to repeat the lesson.
