Sonny definitely stages/exaggerates and in the process cops more physical contact than he really should, putting himself in harms way unnecessarily. He'd be paid more free kicks if he wasn't looking for the free and instead used his pace, agility and skills to get past his opponent.
There were several situations yesterday where he had a step or two break on his opponent and slowed to let him catch up so he could dive to the ground and take the contact. He would have been far better off trying to gather and turn his opponent, avoid contact and win the footy.
Not sure how it was graded as medium contact, surely a little tap is low impact at most. There wouldn't be a scratch or bruise on the Crow so I can't see how medium impact has been thrown at him.
