Medical imaging is a commercial enterprise. No club - AFL or WAFL sends footy players to public hospitals for scans.
They send them to practices like SKG, Perth Rad and Envision, which is where we're all referred to as well, if we're not in a hospital at the time. We generally get a medicare rebate for these, although imaging is expensive so we end up out of pocket.
Because these are sports injury referrals, they'll get charged the full private rate with no medicare rebate. Clubs probably have a deal in place with their preferred imaging practice, being frequent flyers.
