Coming out this late in the week and saying that Bennell hasn't been scanned yet is either bulltish or incompetent. It is an absolute nonsense either way and no amount of hand waving is going to change that.

Are you seriously going to accept without question the club saying they haven't scanned an injury prone high value player a week after he was pulled out of a game? Seriously?

Yes, because I was at the game, watched him get a calf massage at the 1/4 time break then walk off in no apparent discomfort then or walking around after he’d got changed.

I’ll also give the Doctors credit for knowing when a scan is required or not, but then again I don’t just focus on who is having trouble getting rehabilitation back to playing.

Well thats where we differ. The coach should have a solid answer at this point. ditto match committee.

Ummm, how would you know how serious it was unless you had it scanned?

Particularly so with such a high value yet notoriously injury prone player. The attitude being displayed is whats hard to understand....as is the blind acceptance of the same.

I'm not a German doctor specialising in the calf muscles of athletes so I apologise up front for sharing an opinion on the internet but it seems to me that if you have a person who has had a lot of trouble with an injury and you have a medical staff who've had a lot of trouble diagnosing that injury in the past then, when he tells you it's a bit tight and benches himself, you'd get a scan done.

Here's the sort of thing that I'm basing that opinion on.

“The first initial report was an ACL. The physio, he told me I was out for probably 12 months which was a bit of a shock,” Darcy said.

If Harley says it doesn’t feel right doing the scan is kind of a moot point. What if the scan came back ok and then he tore the muscle off the bone by playing? I think there is some sense in listening to Harley that has been through all this medical intervention over the last 3 years. If he doesn’t feel right and reckons he needs another week before having a scan then that should be good enough reason to sit a week out and scan it later.

I’m guessing that most of us would think that Harley represents a better option in our list than our 40th ranked player. In that case run with him with very low salary and expectations to avoid unrealistic scrutiny. If it comes off they look good if not, what have they lost?
