Fremantle have announced their new NAB AFL Women’s senior coach for the next two seasons, with current WA Football Commission female high performance coach and WA U18 women’s coach Trent Cooper taking the reigns at the club until 2020.

I like the spin in that article regarding maintaining our squad and not signing any new players.

Cooper’s signing caps off a big week for Freo’s AFLW team, with all of the club’s 20 required players re-signing with the club on Monday, including captain Kara Donnellan and the past two fairest and best winners in Ebony Antonio and Dana Hooker.
“It’s a good list. There’s been a lot of changes to a lot of other clubs and the stability we have at Fremantle is definitely one of the advantages that we’ve got this year,” Cooper said. 

We've finished near bottom in both seasons and struggled to win playing a very similar style to the men's side (which is a horrible strategy in the developing women's league where skills are far worse than the AFL equivalent). Surely you would be aiming to boost the talent level so we can compete with the better sides in the competition? There's West Australians dominating at nearly every interstate AFLW club but we can't attract some of them back to the lone West Aussie club?

Most organisations would have a look at their setup if their two clubs were performing as badly as Fremantle's but Fremantle boast about their stability.

When you need to get things right it's always best to reach out to the Swannies for a bit of help I still think it might have been better to give Michelle some more support though - two years from start up wasn't long enough.

Yeah. The Swans are so good, their 5th best coach is qualified to coach in a national league.

They really need to pay more for this position.

They also need to pay attention to some talent - they've delisted Bentley, Filocomo, Hayes, Barr, Lavell and (surprisingly) Webb. A bunch of others have been delisted with 11 spots open. That's either a real rebuild or a bloody annihilation of a fairly good list.

I agree Polly, I really rated Filocamo, she was tough and really got stuck in. Webb was another one for me I was surprised they cut, sure she was older but gee she showed a lot and was a very good addition to the team.
