What I find in particular and frustrating is the deafening silence from so called ex champions of FFC. The only person I've heard speak honestly and frankly anout the current multitude of issues is Brad Hardey.

Where is the passion and the concern for the FFC from the likes of Pavlich, Bell, Hase, Mcfarlan etc.

I have read multiple opinions and justifications for the current situation but I can only rationalise the facts.

11 wins in the last 60+ games
We are playing a brand of defensive football that does not work, will never work and is utterly dog dirt to watch.
Our players have clearly lost their passion to play which is obviously resulting in poor skill execution and lack of tackling aggression, their going through the motions.
There are clearly serious values and discipline issues that stem from the top down.
The message is that this season is already over.

The writing is on the wall yet we as loyal supporters have somehow come to believe that we'll get our flag before 2020. Why? Because we've done the hard yards and we stood by our coach, our boys and our board? To believe we're better supporters and that we deserve it is fool hardy romantic nonsense.

Any WAFL coach could start tomorrow and play a 6 6 6 formation with players playing in their traditional roles and simply tell the team to enjoy their football and just play, we'd instantly see an improvement. To continue on this path will be 2 more years of the same with the additional loss of key players and significant reduction in memebership.

I'm predicting a sub 30k crowd against the Crows.

Yep. And wait till the contracts start coming up for the mid tier players that we desperately need to keep and don’t have enough of. Your Langdon’s, Blakely’s, Tucker’s etc. How do you sell the future to guys like that?

Think things are bad? This could get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

Everyone on this site seems to hate Hardie and Langdon but I have always found them accurate in their observations on Fremantle. It’s a shame Matt Price is not still with us because the fans need the voice of someone who follows the club but is outside of the club and is in a position to hold them to account.

They are both accurate and outspoken in their views of what is wrong with Freo, but when Freo get shafted, ie the moved final against the Cats, the various MRP farcical decisions, umpiring rorts regularly in Derbies and finals, they are not willing to take up the Freo cause. That is why most here take or leave their critcisms.

Just chill would you . Give Jezza a couple of days to digest another loss from a team he said would make the eight. All is good, we're on the right track, young kids, games in them, it's a journey, boom tish ra ra ra.

And above all don't ever think that anyone other than Roly could do a better job.

Eventually Questions 5 years 10 months ago #76

Eventually
All very good questions but I cannot see anyone from the Club likely to provide any answers. It's pretty obvious to most football people that Freo management has squandered the opportunity to set our club up as an AFL powerhouse like our neighbours across town. Wholesale changes are needed to the Board and the performance of the coach and his team need to be reviewed to see whether there is also blame there. The reality is that Freo are now back to where we were when Connelly was appointed coach - a long way from finals contention and a team without the respect of opposition teams or the football world.

I think the whole Fremantle entity needs to go play in the wafl for a season or 2 to regain it's mojo.

Can someone explain to me how things work behind the scenes at a football club?

If they want to sack the coach, I gather that's a decision made by CEO and the Board.

If it's thought that for the good of the club the Board, CEO, Chris Bond and the like need to go, who makes that decision? Is there a way to make wholesale changes or is there always someone needing to make the decision and thereby hanging on to their own job in the process?

And as much as I personally would love to get a broom into the place and clear everyone out and start from scratch -- I mean, could it possibly be any worse than continuing with who we have now? -- is it really feasible to start with a clean slate?

I would imagine any coaches with experience would baulk at coming to the Fremantle Football Club at the moment as we present as a badly run rabble. I think that's what irks me the most. I can stand to see us struggling on the field when you know they're playing youngsters and working to move forward, but we have been going backwards for some years now. We are a laughing stock. Personally, I want to see people working at the club who love Fremantle and care about our future, rather than their own.

I want a coach who can take a bunch of lightweight low skilled kids who can't reliably kick to position or take a contested mark and get them to beat bigger, tougher and more experienced sides from the get go. People who say you might have to match the years of training put in by every other club are clueless. I want it now. This should be easy to achieve, or I'm an idiot.

I've seen what Lyon can do with experienced players. He's not improved the skills of any player who clearly needed it. I'm not backing his ability with kids.

There'll be coaches that would RELISH the opportunity at turning this club around but someone needs to stand up and stop protecting their previous bad decisions and send him packing, They'd be improvement immediately as they'd be starting from such a low, insipid, terrible, disastrous, base (I could go on...)

I agree that there is a coach out there who will relish the opportunity but only if our board will ketchup with the modern game and sauce the right person - maybe Stuart Jus

I'll show my self out

I'm just old enough to remember 4th's. 3rd's 2nd's and League.

Getting games into the kids is a crock.

That's what 4, 3, 2 were for.
