Yes true. But have to feel a bit sorry for McCartin He has real problems with concussion that could affect him long term.

Similarly I don't think we'll ever see much from Apeness and that could be due to injury, or maybe he wasn't as good as was hoped for.

Also, I'm not really a believer in taking what is best in the top 10, no matter whether you need them or not. I'm more for recruiting the best in an area that you need and for us that's forwards. We've seen enough in the past of Fremantle recruiting midfielder after midfielder which has left our forward line bare.

Corp, you also forgot to mention they are now grooming Fyfe with ruck duties... WTF!!!

I think it's "Freo 101" where you need to play a host of random positions to see if any work out and if by chance you have a good game in a random position, then you're ear-marked and your original position where your strengths were that you were recruited for slips out the window.

everyone can make some good decisions. even the dockers have made some good recruiting decisions.
the key is making more good ones. unfortunately the dockers have not made enough of them.
there mad philosophy between 2011 to 2015 of picking the best player available at that pick left us with an over abundance of midfielders. which we then had to starve them of opportunities or delist ie Sam menegola, barlow, deboer .
that difficult period of poor recruiting with a game plan that does not suit our strength's leaves us nowhere.

There is nothing wrong with selecting the best available in the draft. The key is to offload your surplus good players for draft picks or trades.

We chose to get rid of ours for nothing. That’s where that strategy came undone.

Most of the players we delisted would not have been traded for by other clubs, and to suggest so is disingenuous. To take them for nothing is a far lesser risk, and one clubs are prepared to take.
