Sorry, disagree with Johnno stance. I reckon Nyhuis had more physical presence than Johnno and Nyhuis did not have a lot. Johnno can still pick up cheap possessions but he is having minimal effect on actual direction. On the saints game from level 5 I could see Johnno was going to kick into the man on the mark...and he did. Unacceptable.

I disagree - I think it's one of the unwritten bonuses of footy. You got some idiot leaping around 5 metres in front of you and you get to bullet the Sherrin into his nuts. Totally acceptable, it never comes before the MRP. Do his face if you want, whatever's your pleasure.

Seriously, I daydream sometimes of Shuey/Goddard/Scumwood (and heaps of others) standing my mark. The pill is damp, heavy and my boot is just screaming for a kick.

Polly, I remember a fullback in country footy who could have gained 40 yards every time he kicked in from a point. He used to unload with a droppy off the toe of his boot that travelled 50 meters like a cruise missile at about a couple of inches below waist height. It was only the new full forwards who would stand the mark 10 meters from the goal line. The older, more experienced heads were behind one or the other point post while he kicked in.

I think we leave Cox forward abd bring in another tall to play forward either Strnadica or even Kirsten. But they are so worried about being too tall and therefore not being able to put forward pressure on. But last week I think we did not even have 1 tackle inside our fwd 50! . I just want to see us compete in the air and bring it to ground. Its unwatchable when we just kick it to the opposition backs

I have never understood the dislike that many have shown towards Kersten, I thought he offered just as much in his first year as McCarthy, from memory he kicked one less goal. Surely McCarthy benefits from having another player that knows how to play forward.

I’ve preferred McCarthy over Kersten until now, and think over the course he will be the better player for us. But Kersten has to be competing and given a shot if form dictates.

More importantly, Lyon may not be responsible for the team not winning, but he is not setting the team up to win, and he has to take responsibility for that. I don’t think Kersten will be much better in this structure, and I don’t think Lyon will change it so that Kersten has a better chance of being successful if he brings him in.

So Nyhuis gets brought in to the team last year with no notice, kicks four goals in his first game including two clutch goals in the fourth quarter, and then immediately gets earmarked as a defender.

If I'm picking a team for Sunday, Nyhuis starts on a forward flank.
