We could have it all wrong. Maybe Ross is taking too much advice, behind closed doors. Maybe the likes of Hale and Prior have been dribbling on about experimental game styles and selections. Maybe Rock is the chief bully boy and Ross is the victim. Could be that little Ross and Bondy shy away and agree with everything. Could be, ay? Let's watch for the signs.

Pav was 192cm and ended up on 99kg. Kersten is 191cm and currently 92kg. Kersten is a good mark and a very good straight kick from a set shot - he can be quick and agile and he's got a good footy head on his shoulders.

Ok, he's gone missing in many games - a valid criticism. But it would be relatively easy to address that (given his size and skill set).

Unlike some here I don't think Tabs is the answer to our forward woes - not alone anyway. But we do have forward problems that aren't solved by earmarking Kersten as a possible defender. That, to me at least, is about as stupid as it gets. We've got heaps of defenders - there are five waiting in line to take Johnno's spot and another one thrown forward because he's a good mark. Trying to remodel Kersten as a backman appears vindictively questionable.

Now I'm not sure what the Bored does, but I would hope that they could understand the lunacy of making half our list defenders - if even from a purely commercial perspective. Plenty of other clubs are pushing for 90,000 members - it would be optimistic to think that our tv viewing audience even gets close to that.

So, is Kersten the answer - is he comparable to Pav? Well, no and no. But I tell you what, he sure wouldn't hurt coming into the side with Tabs out - you got to have a single digit iq to think otherwise.

Maybe Kersten will end up being used as a forward but , most of his time will be spend in the backline so he might as well learn how to play there .

We need another tallish type in the forward line, even if he's a decoy to lure the best defenders off McCarthy. Call it an experiment, but at the moment both Ballas and Matera don't offer any reassurance. Hell, they even have forgotten how to tackle...

Kersten isn't the answer to our woes and I agree with Polly that Tabs on his own isn't the answer.

The answer has to lie in the coach's box. We have to use what we have more effectively and we have worked very hard to avoid doing that for years.

When we had Pav, our forward area worked much better when you used a second tall ie Tabs but in a dazzling display of dopeyness, we insisted on having Pav only as much as possible. Tabs spent more time at Peel and being subbed out and everybody said he was a crab.

We do the same mistake now, when we actually have a forward line that is. One tall and one tall only. I guess when you're putting your talls behind the ball, you are forced into that but its still stupid.

Have two talls forward with smalls for crumbing. Even the slime have worked that out and guess what, they outscore us by a big margin. Get McCarthy forward and get Cox forward as well. If McCarthy is out of form then swap him with Kersten. Kersten goes missing too often but that has to be coached out of him. Get him involved as much as possible because one thing he can do is kick straight.

Trying to make him our 5th depth defender is beyond stupid.

So Duman and Hughes both dropped previously. Duman can easily come into our forward line...he's over 190, marks and kicks well and can cover the ground with speed. Hughes can play back and even mid, bring him in, give him licence to attack the ball, we could be pleasantly surprised. Johnno has to step aside, Crowden looks like he will be given time at Peel...so he can touch the ball. Other forced changes may include Hamling (concussion), A Pearce (unknown injury), Fyfe (carrying something or other).

Ok Ross, I know you're reading this. Just do it mate. No muckin' about anymore. Do it for us! Attack the corridor, no spare player back from the first bouncedown. Tell the mids you have complete faith in them to win it and kick it to advantage. Tell your defenders you love them and to attack and run. Tell your forwards you will love them...if they can capitalise on the aforementioned requests. Tell Johnno you love him (you bloody must do!) but no can do no more buddy.
Do it for US Rossy old mate....DO IT!
