Good point Morgan and you lead me to my other grand theory...

even if you weren't carrying a big slow bloke like Cox up forward I'd still like to have a stay at home approach with two players never leaving the forward half. Freo love bombing it in as if there was a tall bloke clunking marks down there. It's a radical step I know, but actually putting a tall bloke who clunks them there might just work.

Leave 6 in the forward line - no free defender racking up intercepts and less opportunity for defenders to set up overlaps and countless uncontested possessions.

Leave marking options within range of goal, and target them. Let the small guys eat cake (well crumbs). If other options are there use them but at least having a focal point ‘straightens things up’ and ‘everyone knows where the ball is going’. A little less of Piggy and Co.

The reason why we laid so few tackles in the forward 50 is because WE HAD NO BLOODY PLAYERS INSIDE THE FORWARD 50 FOR MOST OF THE GAME. So they were all in the middle laying tackles.

I just want to flag that Brayshaw and Cerra have far exceeded my expectations for kids taken at 2 and 5, and no-one will convince me otherwise. I just don't get how we are playing stacks of kids and our depth looks thin.

Where we are thin is in the big man department. Not necessarily numbers but talent and experience.

We have an obsession with slow lumbering talls who do take time to develop.
Given that we had an obsession with midfielders between 2012 to 2015, we now find ourselves short of developed talls.
Our best tall is now injured and the rest are ruckman. Add to the fact c McCarthy has been a failure our stocks are thin.

I blame Ross for not scoring those goals in the first quarter and for Hamlings concussion.

I blame Ross for all the free kicks we didn’t get. And I blame Ross especially for not playing all the tall forwards we have playing in the twos and oh D. Pearce. That’s poor form.

Having just, reluctantly, joined the get Lyon brigade, I was at a party on Sunday where I met a couple of other mature aged Docker supporters who were of similar thinking and we were pondering who would replace him.
That is the question that I fear has no obvious answer. Because we must not regress by choosing a newby with little form or an oldie who has not been up to it. A new CEO would be a good starting point and a clean out of some of the coaching staff. The cheapest way out would be entice Ross with a pretty young thing which may cause him to break some conditions of his contract.(just joking). Paying out his contract and getting another coach would not come cheap and I have no idea how financial we are. Is there enough ground swell to trigger this?

I blame Ross for being a One Trick Pony. Wonder if he knows Paul Simon?

Sumich or Pav or Clive.

Just on the thought of playing more talls in our forward line and not allowing enough forward pressure. Can somebody explain to me how this would differ so much to what is happening now?

I'm starting to think Ross has benefited from having Riewoldt and then Pavlich in his two GF sides. You can focus on defense when there's a superstar at CHF. What's his win-loss ratio with those two in versus out, I wonder?
