So the issue is, what should Lyon do about it?

There are options. Personally, I'd just get some games into a couple of the big guys that are wallowing at Peel ie Apeness or Stranadica as Ive said play another ruck I mean what did we get Jones for at age 23 if we arent going to give him a go?

You may as well forfeit games if if are getting the ball but having no one to kick it to in the forward line.

The biggest issue I have with this year is watching those Eagles get to have a crack at winning the first final ever played at Optus Stadium.

We need to play like a team, not as individuals taking pot shots at goals from the midfield hoping for lucky bounces.

We need to play like distributors, always passing the ball onto the next bloke in the better position to take that chance at goals. Not seeing if we can get some brownie points for ourselves.

We need to play with ferocious defensive pressure all over the ground... where has all that gone?

Also didn't Bluey McKenna get sacked after taking the Gold Coast nowhere with a seriously talented bunch of youngsters which included a forward line and the best player in the league (Ablett) at the time?

I am not sure If his optimistic words of wisdom should provide much comfort at this stage.

Mundy, Sandilands, Johnson & Ballantyne could all be retired within two years so we don't exactly have years of time available to get the list rebuilt plus we have no young tall forwards on the list showing promise other than Taberner.

It is sad this has been spoken about as a problem for the last 6 years as the impending retirement of Pavlich became closer and closer..............yet we are now in this predicament all these years later. Taberner was a rookie listed player and may come good but other than that all we literally have nothing to show for in the tall forward department. We have a promising young ruckman and a couple of defenders and a whole stockpile of midfielders/half back/half forward types that have either been delisted or not good enough and playing at peel.

Yet even being deficient in this area we shouldn't be getting smashed by 10 goals plus...............because the game is won and lost in the midfield after all and we are winning that battle nearly every week.
