Points to Jezzaargh for reading.
There’s no plan of how to score and no concept of how oppo backlines structure up to intercept, spoil, peel off and smash you on the way out.
Four things you need. Tall-ish forwards leading at the ball, lower 30-40 metre kicks IN FRONT of those forwards, two placed a kick back and man up the rest of them after the kick goes in, tackle.
This stuff takes practise. Not just giving words and thinking the jobs done. Swapping players spots doesn’t cut it either.
Listen to the presso.
- Which is a big stat because if they’re marking the ball our mids haven’t got time to press up and find them. So that was disappointing, we put a lot of work into it.
- But we were throwing things around, I put (Mitch) Crowden back and (Cam) McCarthy back, put (Brandon) Matera on ball, I thought he did some good things around there. Aaron forward, (Nat) Fyfe forward, (Ed) Langdon, so we just changed it up, Luke Ryan to a wing.
- Yeah certainly, our front half tackles.
- Maybe I could have driven it harder but I like the players that drive the car and make decisions
- we spoke about that and if you don’t build the ball up a little bit, if you just go in before you should.
- on Hamling smashmouth...I didn’t see it. I was looking at the front half trying to sort it out.
Good job!
D’ya reckon footy playing blokes respond better to words or actions?
