...of every other team, except perhaps Essendon, Gold Coast and St Kilda doesn’t suit Freo’s play forward of the centre circle.

Why is this?

Because Freo don’t have a play forward of the centre circle.

Nobody has any idea of what they are doing. Fewer know what they are trying to do.

Hit and hope is not a way to entertain, score or win footy games.

We thought our back line was our strength. They must be overwhelmed at times, but our two key backmen got shown up tonight. Hamling-3 disposals and 1 mark, Pearce-7 disposals and 3 marks.

To be fair to Hamling, he was KO'd by Buddy for about the 3rd obvious missed free kick his way in a row and didn't play after halfway through the second qtr.

I thought Pearce looked proppy and lowered his colours to buddy as soon as the ball hit the ground (which most players do). I'm not sure his leg is all good atm.

Our backline didn't stand a chance tonight - the amount of open players in Sydney's forward 50 came from their speed out of defence. We had little to none forward pressure tonight, we couldn't lock the ball in there and they killed us with smart positional footy.

It was great having Wilson back - loved his dogged determination late in the game.

so not sure Hamling’s concussion or A Pearce’s form are the answers Mushie’s looking for.

A Pearce will be shaking his head after his interview on Tuesday where he Was disappointed about buddy Not playing.
I remember thinking they are big words from a defender that has not really done a lot yet.
Well he got a belting to remember , and a lesson on how far he has to go to be a good defender, he is still a long way from that.
2 years out of the system and a lot of learning to go before he can carry buddy’s boots.

I felt it was more about our midfielders not streaming back to defend well enough. Also I noticed a few times Johnson got sucked up the ground then couldn’t get back fast enough. In the last quarter it seemed he and McCarthy were swapped as neither were having a flash night. Our main forward in our backline summed up our night.

Alex Pearce is learning his trade. Buddy is in a league of his own. If Alex could nail Buddy at this stage of his career we'd have the player of the century. Good players learn from defeats. Pearce is doing ok.

Pearce gives away 2 cm, 25 kg, over 250 games. And Buddy is still in the prime of his career. Reality check.

Our problem is that our forwards are streaming back to defend too quickly, leaving our defenders to play dodgem with our forwards while trying to work out whether to kick the ball backwards, or handball the ball backwards. They have to make this decision because they have no-one to kick the ball forwards too.
