Took my family to see us play Collingwood at the MCG last year. Walking to the game on Flinders Street we were greeted with praise of coming to the game by Collingwood supporters. Two different groups joined us walking to the game and they talked about the game ahead and their concern about their Players Eddie and Bucks.
We even had a couple of Collingwood guys moved seats next to us to talk about the game of the banter was jovial.
I did check my wallet several times during this day and night.

Yes Mac. It pains me to say it, but we should be like Collingwood supporters.
It is actually more fun when opposition supporters come to the game. It makes the club money, money they don't need to extract from us.
So lets try and get a reputation as supporters who enjoy the footy and make opposition supporters feel welcome.

Does not apply to Eagles supporters of course.

I've never had a problem anywhere being 188cm and 100 kg with head like a robbers dog has its advantages.

My favourite was Shane Parkers 200 th against Carlton at the G. Pav kicked 9 and Parker kicked 1 playing full back on Fev. We won by heaps. After the game I went to the gents. About 30 Carlton supporters in there. They congratulated us on the win and a couple even sang a couple of verses of our song.

Doesn't cost anything to behave like a decent human.

I’ve had great times at games in Melbourne with Pies supporters,one in particular at Victoria Park. I think they often get a bad rap. Their knowledge of footy, even what was happening in the WAFL, was amazing. Even their hatreds - of Carlton in particular - was hilarious and clever.
Deadly seriously , though, West Coast supporters are the worst. I knew lots of people who worked at Subiaco, and they would say it was like working at two different grounds one week to another because Eagles fans were so rude, uncooperative and “entitled”.

I've also had good experience, bantering with Pies' supporters at the G.
I don't, like most, have a "second team", but if I had a gun to my head, I know what would would be placed at 2nd and 18th as far as other supporters go.

Will have to find out where you guys sit at MCG as my experiences have been vastly different, mostly swearing and abuse vs Collingwood, drinks thrown from above at eagles home derby but the best ever was on leaving Etihad and being bumped into by some overly friendly saints supporters, very apologetic, a bit of friendly banter however on arriving back at hotel realised I no longer had a watch - good bump!

Took a friend to a game at the SCG a couple of years ago . he was a Swans supporter who would winge like a stuck pig if they got a free against them , if they lost he would sook and blame everyone in sight .
He was quite unwell and in a wheelchair . I pushed him around the streets till we could get a cab to the ground , which was a hastle as the cabbies wanted longer fares than 4-5 blocks .
When we got there we were in the middle of the Swans supporters , I was the only Dockers supporter that I could see in the general area .
It turned out to be a good experience as the Swans suporters didn't mind Freo as we weren't a VIC club ( they were once ) . They said they get shafted by umpires when they play VIC teams so they said .
I made my friend promise that he wouln't spit the dummy if he lost and I did the same . It was , as it turned out a really good day and the scores were level at full time .
That was the last time I went to a game with him and he loved it .That day changed my idea about Swans suporters for a while . A good time in hostile territory .
