I'm imagining something like this:

Copper: Name?
Hill: Excuse me sir?
Copper: What's your name?
Hill: By George my good man, I'm a reigning Doig Medallist.
Copper: George Doig. Got it.

I dunno Quasi, he didn't seem to learn from that time he was caught driving without his license (no club suspension) or the time he was done for assault (no club suspension). A game in the WAFL before the AFL is probably how his return from injury was planned so not sure how relevant this suspension is either.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

I think Shane is of the opinion that the penalties handed out last year where way too harsh, and the B Hill penalty is appropriate, I, and I would hazard a guess, many other Freo supporters, are of this opinion as well. I don't rescind my statement earlier that you Biz seem to have taken a set against B Hill for being traded to Freo, when we could have got him for nothing a few years down the track.

One thing that irritates me is the stance that the AFL and clubs need to set some type of example of errant players. We seem to think they need to be some type of bland blancmange

Blokes like Paul van der haar just wouldn’t exist in today’s game.

I think is a shame. As we have lost the characters the game used to provide.

People make mistakes. They hopefully learn from it. I am sure Hill will.

Let he who is without sin cast the first stone.

It's not B Hill that I dislike for that trade, it's the blokes who organised the trade. I raved about B Hill and how much better he was than I'd expected last season and I want to see him in the side now. He was worth a second round pick and maybe more at the time but I still think we should have picked him up for next to nothing over the trade period just gone and kept our pick.

I just don't see how you can give him a week at Peel in response to the offences. I wouldn't have a problem with it if we hadn't of overreacted to Blakely and co last season but that was the standard the club set for our kids. Now this far worse incident is being brushed under the carpet and I don't think that's right.

It should be noted I think the club was far too harsh in their handling of blokes like Simpson too. But then again, he was a kid who hadn't achieved much yet and they could afford to pretend to look tough in that situation rather than work with him and the problems he had.

That’s probably a bit harsh on the club about the Simpson situation Biz, from my observations clubs are very reticent to give up on high draft picks unless something is astray. Morabito was kept on the list for an inordinate amount of time, even Apeness has been given an extended time to try and prove his worth.

So Brad Hill suffers because the club stuffed up in the Blakely etc situations. That's a really fair way to handle the situation. I think the punishment handed out to Hill is OK. The overreactions to a bit of larrikinism and a day at the beach were not fair, so don't compound the situation. I can't remember the punishment given to Johnno, for his back alley escapade, but from memory it was pretty severe, but fair. Given his previous, he had to cop something for "Kebabgate" so no complaints from anyone then either.

RM, as I said earlier, the club may have reflected on last year's penalties and concluded they were excessive. Then maybe done a little recalibration and here's the result.

I'll be on the lookout for flying pigs on my walk from the train station tonight, just in case the above is true.

It was my understanding that the club an the leadership group together hand out these penalties. It may we’ll be that the players saw the drop from the leadership group was quite severe. It might be that the players are a bit kind to Brad because why like him. Hard to say. I would have liked an extra game suspension, just to make the message clear.

Traditionally they blame the leadership group. This time I think it came from the suits. Ross Lyon didn't even know if the suspension started this week or when he came back from injury.

There must have been an umpire in the act as well which would explain the 1 week's suspension.

Look, let's all hope Hill will learn from his mistake and hopefully he'll be in line for a leadership role next year.

Actually, maybe he should stay away from lines.
