At $4.60, we’re getting ripped off. I’d rather throw my money at the Slime at $2.10. We’re a rubbish team going no where fast. Our 4 wins have been against duds. Our losses, well say no more. If we come within 5 goals of the Swannies, I’d see myself out. Might just venture down and watch Peel play instead.

Sydney comfortably beat the Eagles at the craypot. Admittedly something went astray with the umpiring, but if Sydney don't beat us by 6+ goals then there is something wrong with the universe.

I have found over the journey that betting agencies, while not perfect, are very good at determining who is going to win a game of football. I'm assuming the ones that are bad at it don't exist anymore. It's noteworthy that we've started as rank outsiders in every away game this year.

I've also found that most posters on here don't rate our coach at all, and consider that he's holding the team back from greatness (or at least very goodness). They spend a fair amount of time dissecting just how badly we played the previous game, even when that game is a win.

And yet by about Thursday something strange happens: suddenly we've got a team capable of beating the best in the competition away from home. Maybe people think our players have improved over the week, or the coach might call in sick, but it seems not only divorced from reality, but divorced from everything posted in the previous four days.

I'm not sure if it greenshoots of optimism popping out from the usual doom or gloom, a coping strategy, or a subconscious way to pave the way for even more bagging of Lyon the following week. Whatever it is, it's a bit strange.

That said, I reckon we'll roll Sydney this weekend.

We see glimpses of potential Morgan which offer hope. Last season from Rd 3 to about Rd 8 when our kids were left to run free and weren't all pushing down the ground to defend we played some nice free flowing footy. Again this season we have seen glimpses of it for a quarter or two as the players are given license to push forward.

I know you don't believe the coach has much to do with it and it's a product of winning but I disagree. I see enough differences in the way we structure and the way players move the ball to point the finger at the coaches box. When he throws players behind the ball, they immediately look sideways and backwards with the footy or they all flood the defensive half, these are RL decisions. He has drilled these ideas into the side and if he hasn't then he's done a horrible job convincing the players to play on his terms.

I am hopeful he allows the players more freedom this week and they can surprise a few people.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

Morgan it’s that weird emotion called “hope”. Without hope you despair, as true supporters we hope, then when reality bites we despair.

It's like being a reverse old fogey.

Reverse nostalgia in contantly searching for negatives in the past, reverse chronophobia in constantly anticipating positives in the future.

AFL website has us reporting that Hill won't play, but Wilson and Walters likely. Fyfe battling knee soreness but expected to play.

Does that affect our odds or gut feelings?

i was actually quietly confident before the Port and Slime games so I'm obviously no judge.

Reverse Semichronophobia is when the other team gets 5 goals up in the second quarter and you are desperate for half time to arrive.

So let me get this straight. You can have chronophobia and reverse chronophobia and now semi-chronophobia and reverse semi-chronophobia?

Can you have full circle/360 degree chronophobia?

Chronohodophobia

But if you got stuck in 1955 with no Delorean you'd have reverse chronohodophobia

Crowdenchronophobia. The fear of your head spinning a full 360 degrees and being caught holding the ball

"Being held back from very goodness."
Wonderful turn of phrase! Someone needs to leak that to a sports journo.
