I was going to compare the 2017 debacle at the SCG with the team we had then and now. But CA would have loaded up with the one constant, that being Roly and I know sweet FA. So I’ve saved him the angst. Instead I’m backing Sydney to win by 50+. Reason, cause Freo have got no game plan and a coach who’s got no idea.

We are probably a bit similar in the fact we don’t really have good forward lines (no Buddy or Reid). Our mids match up ok.. Ronke is not going to kick seven again.. we just haven’t been travelling too well.. you never know

I think we'll win by just over two goals, but we'll need some more speed along the wings and our small forwards will struggle to get clear of Rampe and co.

We're a better team, just have to play together. Our backs play really well together- watch their drills before bouncedown; I think we have the best ruck/clearance group in the league. Let's just not get caught playing their contested footy style - break quickly, shake off their tackles and we'll fly home winners.

Polly, might be a good time to play some big bodied mids as small forwards to bust the Swans defense apart. Use the speed through the middle to get the footy inside 50 before our forwards can get backwards of the center.

Is it a case of poor away form or quality of opposition encountered when we have travelled?
Have a look at who we have played away and it would have been a very brave person or Jezza that would have predicted wins against those teams. On the flip side have a look at Eagles opposition away and form lines can look a little different.

Port are 8th and GWS 9th, they aren't going that well but it was enough to belt us.

I reckon we're a chance at Sydney though, they are full of a lot of honest, hard working players and are missing a bit of polish atm. It will obviously be a scrappy game which plays into RL's hands and the fact it's a small ground means the forwards don't have as far to run back towards goals after they've pushed up the ground. Maybe some will forget RL's instructions and hang around the forward 50m for a bit?

I reckon this week could be a big one for Cox too, he has done really well in contested marking situations in his 2 games, never being outmarked and always bringing the ball to ground for the smalls to get to work. If he can continue to do that and not let the Swans extra numbers in our forwardline (or our lack of them) mark easy balls then we're a good chance. I'll probably have some money on us at $4.60 for the win.

If this were a boxing match I’d say we have a punchers chance.

Our defence is fine Ryan can quell Ronke and we get reasonable rebound especially if Wilson is back in.

Midfield we can win the clearances, Sandi, Fyfe, Neale, Mundy are every bit as good as Sinclair, Kennedy, McVeigh and Parker.

This takes us to the forward line. It is a short ground the edg3 if the square and the 50 almost intersect. One kick out of the centre and you are deep inside 50. I’d bring in an extra tall with Cox and McCarthy and another tall we can stretch them in the air and have Ballas, Cerra and Matera crumb.
