Kersten was a regular at Geelong under a very different game plan. Why the hell did we recruit him, if we were not going to change our game plan? That junk about needing him to get Hamling doesn't wash with me either, if Hamling needs someone to hold his hand, leave him at the Bulldogs.

17 & 18 gets us to 6 with another against Gold Coast. Wonder how we will go against 9-12. That’s why I found yesterday’s result worse than previous results because we were ugly against a very poor team that translates to 70+ point thrashing’s against good teams. We could concievably play finals and think we are better or more advanced than we are.
The bigger picture is to see how our game is going to stand up against quality atm it doesn’t

RM, Kersten wasn't a regular at Geelong- he struggle to get a game.

We got him as a squad player- pick in the 60s from memory.

Don't rely on him as our saviour, I think last season proved him to be a pretty limited player.

He played 9 games in his first season, 11 games in his second season and 17 games in his third season in the Cats top team, for 10, 9 and 22 goals, so he had some form, but as I said above, form playing a much different game than he sees at Freo.

Kersten was drafted in 2011 and didn't play a game in his first few years. He was far from a regular and only got a game due to the Cats lack of key forwards.

He did not play in '12 & '13 then played 9, 11, % 17 games. Pretty normal development for a forward in a team like the Cats had then, especially with "kick it to me I'm the greatest" Hawkins in the team.

I think you are being a bit harsh on his Geelong career, but I am disappointed with what he has offered since returning. I blame the game plan as I said above, but it could be his Nanna, his mates in Perth and his manager meetings that are distracting him. You would have to ask Ross about that however.

I wouldn't call 37 games in 5 seasons a regular player, even his final season where he played the most games he was a bit part player who was dropped a few times, not needed for finals and played as a third string forward behind Hawkins and the resting ruckman which was normally Stanley. He only kicked a goal a game and didn't do anything outstanding in his time there.

I would think if anything he is better suited to RL's style of play which requires a lot of running and not many contests. Forwards running off the half backline hoping for the quick break and a ball over the top is more suited to him as a smaller tall forward.
