I just struggle with signing up a coach for a 4 year extension.

That was just a stupid decision.

I would sack Rosich for that alone.

I became a member in 1997 at the age of 8 with pocket money I'd saved all year. I sat in the same seat for 15 years and rode the wave of emotion that was the Freo footy club as I grew up and was shaped by my support of the club. The club became a massive part of my identity as a kid in the northern suburbs in what was very much enemy territory with little to no other Freo supporters around. The club was there through the good and the bad and I loved it.

Then the current admin came in and tore it all down, stabbed Harvs in the back as he was on the verge of greatness, ripped up the colours I'd loved, the jumper I always wore, tried to change the song I loved and broke away from Freo and the training base I'd spent many a morning/afternoon watching the players run around. They didn't consult us, they didn't even consider us. Our support and our interests were never on the agenda.

Instead it was replaced with horrible footy that resulted in stunted, boring play minus the odd game and very little feeling or emotion left in the club. I gave up my membership at that point although I still go to a few games a year. I can't bring myself to buy the horrible merch they shill out but still rely on the anchors that made this club.

I don't like to see the club in distress but if this is what it takes to get rid of the guys that have torn the heart out of the club, I won't be getting in the way. The passion the fans used to have regardless of results was lost when they tried to convert us into OOFTIT Lite and this is the consequence. I'll back the players every day of the week but the admin can get stuffed.
Nathan: When did you get balls?
Simon: I've always had balls you've just never seen them.
Nathan: That's the gayest thing I've ever heard.

RRocks...yep, the players are ultimately the ones who will hasten a coach's end date. If the higher level of the group are not happy, it will ultimately ring some alarm bells for management. If management don' respond then the board eventually will. If...the senior playing group and leaders are unhappy.

I have supported the club since 1994 and am an inaugural member. I will continue to support them because it is in my blood. I was a south freo supporter from birth and my dad was one from when he migrated here in the 1920s. It's what we are.

I support the players but and I see Noddy doesn't get this, the club is more than players it is more than transient mercenaries who coach and administer it. It is the supporters tge people who pay substantial money each year to be part of something, to belong.

Footy is tribal you put on your colours you ride the ups and downs with passion and commitment. When you are up you are elated when you are down you are deflated.

What does the club stand for, it stands for each and everyone of us each of us are part of this thing,

I like to feel we all belong, I like to be at the game, to speak to people before and after the game to see how the boys are training and to hear from them and the coaches. We don't get this interaction, this dialogue. We aren't a club we are a business and I hate that.

But in the end I am part of the club, and tge club is part of me. I will be a docker until I die.

As Ross says it is what it is.

Wow, went out to dinner with friends and came home to this.

So many postings that i agree with in such a short time shows the emotions, the passion and the general state of concern with our club. I don't think I've you beauted so many postings in one sitting.

Something has to give. Things can't go on like this.

I wasn't an inaugural member, I hated Gerard Neesham. I was a Swan Districts diehard.
And I couldn't get excited by Damian Drum either.
but it was in 2001 when they dumped him mid-season that I jumped onboard and have been here ever since.

For a number of years in those early days I was a fully paid member and used to take my 3 girls to the footy. Even wore their abuse... "Dad, you're stupid, you picked the wrong team again!!" I remember my 5 yr old told me one day. lol

But anyway, I'm a Freo diehard and our time will come once again. i'm sure of that.

We need to get Pav back to the club. If he isn’t interested in a coaching position can we just invent a role and appoint him as Director of Awesomeness or something?

Funny how things go Expat. I was an Eagles fan in the early days(forgive me for i have sinned) but being a Claremont supporter It was Neesham that got me around to following and staying a Fremantle supporter through thick and thin.

Unfortunately there has been a lot more thin than thick.

Once Fremantle announced their entry...I was in, of course, there was nothing else to think about.. I was at first game albeit a preseason game at East Freo Oval against the saints. I was at the MCG museum on the weekend and there was the original player list from that game. And my son was with me...and he was at that first game as a 7yo alongside me. So, saints again this weekend...let us destroy them. Let's send them home knowing they played FREMANTLE. Freo is older than just the purple. Message to the rest of the comp: Freo footy has been around for 130 years! Watch out...we will eat you all!

For what it's worth, the mail I'm getting is that some of Freo's Indigenous players past and present are still pretty disgruntled by how Shane Yarran's exit from the club was handled and how that ended up - to the point that the Yarran family insisted that nobody from the club (including the coach, which isn't a good look) except the players be allowed to attend the funeral. It won't be lost on some of these same players that when a player like Yarran stuffs up, it's an immediate sanction or even straight out the door, but when the boss does what he did its nothing to see here.

What I’d like to know is whether RL was given the 4 year extension to the contract before or after that Christmas party?
The way I see it RL has underperformed since the contract was extended.

That post made me even more disappointed and sad in what's happening at our club, Magoos. We were at the forefront of integrating the indigenous boys to AFL. Something I was always proud of, and now our administration have stuffed that up too. As we keep saying, we support our players but the admin lost many of us awhile ago now.

Double standards are not good at all. Unfortunately the cover up would always have been on the cards because the administration created their own monster by giving out a ridiculous five year contract extension. So of course they would try and sweep it under the carpet to cover their own arses.
As they are so implicit and under Roly's spell if the proverbial does hit the fan and he goes then they should as well if they had any integrity, which of course appears not to be the case.

It will be the players and to a lesser extent the supporters in the end who will drive for change.

Precisely how I feel Agarn. It's such an important part of our club's past and present - the heart and soul IMO. When it's the players out there week after week, putting their bodies on the line, you can't help but wonder whether a morale-buster like the double-standards applied here is going to affect performances too. In a game of 1%ers, I'm pretty sure it'd affect mine even if I wasn't conscious of it.
