The rule isn't BS, and was a good rule until the clowns in charge decided that they could ease boundary umpires out of the game and save some dollars, by weaning us into a last touch OOB rule.

Yeah, teams are tending towards low scoring footy, but the one team best at attacking, free flowing footy are Richmond, who are deservedly fan favourites.
This problem will go away at the end of the year when half the teams adopt the premiership winning strategy from the last year, as often happens.

I just like the fact that the AFLW was panned for not playing high scoring footy...can't remember the last time i saw a female footy player look backwards instead of forwards or try to keep the ball in congestion.

The biggest problem I see in the game today is the lack of accountability by the AWFL.
They need to farm out their umpire accountability to a firm that has no favorites, that can deliver a report on the umpiring of each game even if its via playback.
Fans pay a lot of money and commit a lot of effort to attend games on a regular basis.
Players spend their lives learning rules and can be confused when umpires get it wrong leading to lack of confidence
Punters Cop it in the wallet when poor decisions are made
Admistrators will eventually feel the consquences of their actions when the sport is waning due to over manipulation

Of course umpiring decisions are always going to be under question, but patterns that emerge need to be acted upon. Most of us saw what happened in the derby this year, the Derby of several years ago where it was 7 goals to 1 in the 1st qtr with a free kick count to match, and also the Preliminary final against Hawthorn in 2015

Reduce interchanges to 20 per team per game. No more congestion and keeps the best players on the ground for longer while reducing cheap tags involving multiple players. Fyfe would love to take one opponent To the cleaners.

And if I had my way, I'd enforce a 3 torpedoes a quarter rule as well. Bring back the long kick!!

How good is the game when there are coast to coast moments like the one last night,purely as a result of a bloke sinking the boot into the leather.!!??

Everyone gasps when someone boots a torp or a 65m drop punt...so why isnt there more of it??

Good for the crowd, good for the game, and it sorts out a congested area real quick too!!

The one thing that really switches me off is the never ending discussion on the rules - which inevitably leads to more and more rule change suggestions that get so convoluted over the course of a year that some of them seem sensible. I don't like rule changes, I don't think they solve anything in the long term and I don't think they'll prevent any of the supposed catastrophes that they're predicated on solving.

I begrudgingly accept that it is part of the fascination with the game - everyone's got an idea, everyone. Why would someone want to sit and count interchanges is beyond me - 1, 2, 3, 4.. - yeesh. I don't know if it speeds up the game, slows it down, prevents neck injuries or cures hepatitis. It just seems stupid - like they all do (quite frankly).

I like the game, I don't reckon we need cane toads to make it more enjoyable. I know you can't stop all the ideas but why not create a 5 year rule that bans rule changes.
