You mentioned you might look at changing your travel routine?
It’s not routine, we have had the same routine since I have been here. So the routine works. We need to drill in that it’s lots of things. It’s young players heading back to Melbourne going to see their player manger, go see their families and their mates and all of a sudden you’ve had six interactions when you could have been relaxing and preparing for your football. I’m not saying that’s happened but it’s likely they wouldn’t even realise that’s draining them. There are a lot of outputs that you don’t necessarily need.

Many moons ago, when I was young and stupid (as opposed to old and...), I went to a swimming comp in Sydney, and having a free day, a few of us thought it would be fun to go body surfing (at Maroubra, if my memory serves me). It was fun, and the waves were big, so we stayed a couple of hours. The next day we all swam terribly.
When you are young, you actually have to be told not to do this sort of thing.

If so you're eighteen year old child went across to the other side of Australia and only gets home for an occasional night for about nine months of the year. You then find out that their coach thinks you are a distraction for them and him.
If this was the case no wonder some of these kids get homesick.

And friends, who needs them? And he knows for a fact that they are catching up with their managers?

That was a very unusual comment.
Players being distracted by girlfriends, managers and grandmas is a very good excuse for a no-excuses football club.
Cmon RL you can do better than that when it appears there were far more off-field goings on that may have caused some distractions over the last few weeks.

What RL said, in public, about his young players and potential distractions...will not benefit the player/coach dynamic in any way. Telling us all that these young men may fall into that evil temptation of friends and family is not going to help anything. Just disempowering. And I do feel for any person who seems to be struggling despite some exterior calmness. I hate to think that RL's kids, family and friends are also suffering through all this shyte.
