Donald 'Jezza' Trump vs Bernie "Bizkit" Sanders????

AB barring injury will play 200+ games for us but he was the safest of safe pics. I don't ever seen him ripping a game to shreds. Stephenson might and maybe already has, he reminds me of another bloke who always plays his best against Freo - Isaac Smith, with his run and goal kicking.

AC has done some pretty miraculous stuff already with ball use and has high footy IQ. Hopefully we have a game plan and coaching that let's it shine through.

Logue - for me, jury is still out. Looked lost at times last year --- like Nic Nat in the early days lost. Lost in traffic and the contest, and then also lost when knowing where to go to impact game. Thought he improved and learnt from the experiences which is a massive plus. So hopefully that trajectory continues.

I'm no Bizkit, but I honestly reckon Brayshaw will be the best of that bunch.

Freo did extremely well in the last draft and both AB and AC will likely turn out long term very good players.

They won't be the only ones from that draft to turn out very good long term players and Stephenson is certainly one of those. I would have been stoked if we'd picked him but you simply cannot pick every good player available in any draft. Sometimes, even Collingwood can get one.

Some of the one-eyed support for our choices is just a little bizarre however.

Ask me in 2 years. Recruiting is uncertain and players develop differently.

Anything and everything is now fertile ground for slagging the club. My kids and their friends have a very jaundiced view of Dockerland. Actual quote: Why don't they do something they enjoy? I have great memories of the wit on this site, even in the darkest times, but I see it descending into an echo chamber negative groupthink. Take a reality pill.

I am happy with who we have picked recently and I think Logue will become a very good player. He is explosive, powerful and a good size. I don’t necessarily think he will play down back he could play through the centre of the ground and wings, unsure of his overhead ability to allow him to play forward.
I am not surprised that none of last years recruits have had nominations for rising star as they have been solid without standout performances. I don’t care if they do either our last one was Palmer.

I can see why the club didnt pick Stephenson after our miss with Pitt.
I hope he is a great player and wish him well but he is one step away from potential retirement and we simply couldnt miss.
Cerra and AB are strong hits..no brainers!

Jezza, you are more deluded than Donald, if you think Matera is our answer as a small forward (or anywhere on the ground, unless he has an opposition jumper on). Balla's still offers much more than he ever will.

Logue could be anything, but he needs some time being taken to the footy as a half-back to give him more understanding of reading the footy. He does some intuitive things once he gets it, but that doesn't sit well with our current game plan. That may be the cause of his indecision at times.

In great Dockerland tradition this all goes back to what I started with.

We went with safe and steady whereas I liked game breaking and exciting when using a number 2 pick. Each to their own. I did also say that I believe Cerra has the potential to be that type. He seems to have the time and poise that some of the great players have already.

I much prefer to watch the highlight reels(yes those crazy things) of a Fyfe or Walters compared to say a Neale, that doesn't mean that both types of players aren't needed.

Someone also remembered Palmer winning the Rising Star. I also remember the big talk at the time that Rioli should have won it. Of course as a good Freo supporter I was rooting for Palmer but even before he did his knee it was pretty obvious who was the one who was more likely to win you a game and that's the way I see we've gone this year.

As others have said, the jury is still out on Logue. Our backline is one of our strengths so he's not really needed there. I'm also in cahoots with those that want to see him used as big bodied midfielder. Love to see him crashing through a few packs and breaking lines.

But to say we don't need small forwards, or any forwards for that matter is ridiculous. Obviously we struggle to kick goals. Even the supercoach has said he wants more pace, well that's certainly not Brayshaw and Banfield's strong area.

So according to Jezza these small forward forwards have got us covered.
Old man Ballas-8 goals from 7 games
Matera-7 from 7
Cerra-4 from 6. Actually a midfielder who said he had never played in the forward line before this year.
Brayshaw-2 from 7
Banfield 1 from 7
Crowden 1 from 6. Last three are all midfielders and not forwards

Game breakers-Fyfe 5 from 7 and Walters 10 from 6.

Bennell-seriously. Why even mention his name.

Then to rubbish Ryan who won the WAFL goalkicking because he got beaten in two finals was also plain silly.
Comparisons...
Ryan 7 goals from 3 games
Stephenson 10 from 7.

Yes, it all a moot point but don't rubbish other performances when they are performing better than our own.

Hey CA, Jezza and co don't want to see Logue, or anyone else for that matter, breaking the lines from the midfield. It shows up the glaring deficiency in our game plan when they get to the front edge of the center square and have no-one up forward to kick to. Much safer to play the ball winners and line breakers as far back in the backline as you can get them.

RM, you clearly missed watching a couple of games on the weekend where similar scenarios were played out. No forwards to kick to. But let’s rip into Freo because that’s what you do best. Ease up big fella.

Having no-one in our forward line isn’t the current game plan as some are suggesting. Roly explained on Channel Snoz tonight that we like most clubs have a seventh player behind the ball at bouncedown and the very young kpp forwards are still learning how to position themselves when the ball is coming out of the backline....ie following instructions and reading the play.

Watching and strategising football is all Roly and the other 17 coaches do so its reasonable to expect they know what tactics are to be used and are being used.

Wins and losses basically come down to the quality, experience and confidence of a playing group. We have a quality but relatively young and inexperienced group that will grow in confidence the more games they play.

Expect some good wins but also more losses this year, hopefully not as bad as last Sunday.

We havent got a seasoned strong list so dont expect miracles when some key players in our best 22 cant play.

I'd throw Logue at CHF. He'll get sucked into the midfield or back line and then can play at his strengths.

Sorry, I should have said consistently successful sides play a few players in their forward line.
