I thought Matera wanted the footy served up to him, but did not want to get his hands dirty. Give me Ballas any day. He might not pick up the easy outside possessions, but he works his arse off to create space and pressure.
I know we need outside receivers blah blah blah. But we also need those outside receivers to be prepared to get in and do the heavy lifting when all the heavy lifters are somewhere else, and Matera doesn't offer that.
Some one had a go at Brayshaw for ducking his head on the weekend, did you really watch his game all day? He is prepared to get in and work. Every young fella gets conned by an opponent at some stage of his first year, it's what happens next that tells the story. Matera is showing none of the down and dirty work rate that we need in our squad. And this may be why he was let go by his previous team.
