We may make the 8 this year. The team is exciting which is good. We aren’t winning a premiership but are a lot closer than people think. Losing to wc though is embarrassing.

Yes...thought we were hard at it and loved the first year players being in the thick of it. The 2nd q where we didn't arrest their momentum. Some ordinary if not diabolical decisions. And no replacement tall for Tabs. And of course Walters. We did very well to get within 2goals.

Critical errors(and umpiring)killed us. Sandi's terrible pass inside 50, ditto Crowden, Fyfe and Mundy's easy missed set shots, Johhno's gift turnover goal and Brayshaw's one handed non committal mark attempt on our 50m line were killers.

The most important thing was ross Lyon was able to keep his integrity by bringing back Johnson.
That is important to him .
Ross said he was rested last week and it was not a form issue and he brought him back.

To think that Johnson at 33?, having never really played as a ruckman was going to be expected to compete against two guys much bigger and taller, plus cover way more ground than he's used to was as stupid as a team selection as leaving out Hamling in the first round.

And that is down to Lyon.

And, CA, the Slime have shown that playing 2 ruckman can work, for a number of weeks now. (Although it is questionable how effective either one of the, would be if they had to ruck alone) Given Sandy is tired, I reckon it was sheer stupidity to not bring in another big bloke, irrespective of experience. Johnno was never gonna cut it...

Run Sandy into the ground and we are gonna know all about it....

The evidence is plain to see. In the opening minutes a Freo player was tackled on our right half forward flank, the ball fell off his hand and he was pinged for incorrect disposal, the free kick ended up with Neale, forward of the wing who kicked it back into the centre square, an eagle intercepted, was tackled, the ball fell off his hand, play on, eagles goal. Game over. That early in the game it was obvious we would get shafted.

It's always good to sleep on a loss. Two best forwards out, one during the game, best players down, umps awful, goal kicking heartbreaking- 8 point loss.

All the momentum is with Fremantle. I'd like to see Tom North and Apeness play.

Reality is that we are three out of six. Two losses were against Port and GWS both away which all other clubs would not pencil in as a win no matter what form their in. One loss was yesterday against the Great Pretenders!

Let’s face it, the reality is that there were too many people on the field for Freo to contend with. The writing was on the wall when a couple of pseudo-wc-players were named to officiate.
We were on top in the first quarter and our backs were holding their forwards really well then the pseudo-players stepped into their positions and with a few timely decisions got the slime back into the game. It coincided with Walters’ injury. It’s not an excuse it’s reality as is the bias shown by those two individuals. The medal debate during the week probably gave them an added incentive to stich us up on the field.
I’d like to see one of our officials take the awfl to task on issues like umpire selection for Freo games. Those two should never officiate another Freo game.
