Just to add some perspective on the 'bargain basement' pick 58 GWS parted with for Dutchy in 2016 - we picked up one Luke Ryan 8 spots lower at #66. Which one of those would you rather have in your (rebuilding) team??

GWS used pick 58 to get him, from memory we delisted him. If this is the case then Luke Ryan is irrelevant as to whether we retained DeBoer.
He and to a lesser degree Barlow were always the two that had a bit to offer even if it was just to teach the young guys how to go about it. One player whose deficiencies were overly highlighted ahead of his attributes.

If we didn't delist De Boer - we would have had one less spot to fill via the draft - so it's not irrelevant. In that instance, Ryan, being our last selection in the 2016 draft would not have been selected by us.

Without going into umpteen hypotheticals about who might have got him if we didn't or that we might have got him via the PSD or Rookie Draft - the basic equation, to follow the line of this thread, is that to retain De boer - we would have not picked up Ryan. My point is our side will be better for it, in the long run, by delisting De Boer and getting Ryan.
