AP I thought about the Pav in this naming but prefer that we hold his name back for a Fremantle trophy — I'd shudder to think we gave anything to a WCE player with Pav's name on it — it would besmirch the great man's reputation.
As a preliminary thought the Matthew Pavlich Award should go to a Fremantle player (whose playing career has concluded) who has captured the essence of what our Club is all about — working class values, an outstanding servant of the club, who has been committed to the Dockers (i.e. resisted overtures to go elsewhere), whose playing credentials are exemplary, who was able to play key roles, who has inspired excellence in others and who has given at least eight years of playing service to the club.
Come on Down Dave Mundy*!
Plenty of others in our history (Macca, Shane Parker, Hase to name a few) and in our current crop (Stephen Hill, Lachie Neale, Sandi).
An award with some credibility!!
* only when he retires, of course.
