Just watching AFL360 and the shirts that Melbourne and Richmond are wearing for this game are pretty damn good... just wondered if Freo will have the same initiative.
If you’re going to create an alternative strip, what better game?
Sales proceeds can go to war vets/families etc.

We have gone from being the number two game on at the ANZAC weekend..to not even rating a mention.
Its sad but the Len Hall game needs a makeover from the club to get it back in the space it should be. Other clubs and the AFL have kidnapped it back to being a Vic only celebration..
We need to pressure the AFL.
21st April really has no connection to Anzac Day IMO..the pre match silence and ceremony is basically lip service..
I will go to the dawn service on Anzac Day. I dont need a BS connection from a AFL club 4 days before to commenorate it.
Who can recall Leigh Matthews awe at one of our pre game ceremonies when he coached Brisbane?
That was actually on ANZAC day..

Yeah, the AFL screwed us by giving Richmond and Melbourne a stand-alone ANZAC Day eve game. The AFL has never scheduled a stand-alone game that doesn't involve only Melbourne teams - given Freo's history with the day that was a good opportunity to do so, and once again they defaulted to looking after their own in Melbourne.

I think you will find it’s more to do with travel commitments mid week and the ability to fit in a game before a public holiday.

Interstate teams aren’t going to want to travel here play a Tuesday night game or Wednesday game and then travel back east to play 4 or 5 days later.

The AFL and their broadcasters want to maximise revenue not having a standalone game on ANZAC Eve is a missed opportunity for this. But unless Anzac Day falls adjacent to or on a weekend they will always be in Melbourne due to travel.

Not everything is a conspiracy to screw us.

I don't think it's a conspiracy, I just don't think we are given much thought.

The bean counters at clubs care about TV exposure, and we get none. That has to hurt out sponsorship.

This year is difficult with ANZAC Day falling right in the middle of a week, but even under those most difficult of circumstances, you can't say a club - let's say the Bulldogs - would turn their back on a stand-alone ANZAC Day eve game, especially if it was backed up by a stand-alone Monday night game at home the following week.

The AFL could easily make it happen if it wanted.

Interstate teams (read Melbourne teams) don't want to travel here full stop, maybe it would give them a taste of the difficulties of our schedule, when we travel either to or from the East Coast every week.

On the jumper question, I understand that clubs are only allowed a certain number of jumper changes a year. Perhaps we could have had an ANZAC jumper, but then we might not have bene able to have that Perth Stadium jumper for our first game.

And then how would we know what the low watermark for jumper design is?
