I'd have to agree with all of that, Shane, except using Kersten but thats because I don't rate him as highly as you do. Tabs and Kersten are two different beasts and I see Kersten as being more similar to McCarthy. I'd also see McCarthy as having more upside even though he's barely shown glimpses of his capabilities.
It would help if Tabs had a bit more mongrel in his nature but I think thats a weakness he's unlikely to overcome at this stage of his career.
As for Kersten, it seems the club is trying to turn him into a backman because if it worked with that Colonwood turncoat, its going to work for everybody, right. From all reports, he's not adapting to the role. From those who watched the game on the weekend, it seems he had minimal impact.
His best position is as a mobile forward much like McCarthy but neither have really impacted on many games so far. I think he';s likely to go the way of a slightly more talented Jack Anthony unless something turns around
