Anyone who has worked in a largish organisation knows how this goes. Rosich would have seen the story come up in paper again, would have had a conversation with Dixie Marshall's husband, who would reiterate the importance of communication within the organisation. Both would resolve that in the spirit of openness it was a good idea to get on the front foot with staff to address the story. But, because the story is sensitive or possibly subject to confidentiality, nothing specific would be addressed and Rosich would merely spout platitudes about how seriously they take these things, and rest assured we've dealt with the issue blah blah blah, and the staff would go back to their desk feeling like that was all a waste of time but determined to get the goss at the next Friday drinks.
Then Hackdorn would describe it as a crisis meeting, when in fact it is just an enormous waste of time.
Which is not to say anything about the seriousness or otherwise of the actual claim, because again, how would anyone know?
