TOPIC: Sean Darcy

Is it just me, or does anyone else reckon we should give Sandi the week off anyway? The bloke is 7 ft and 86 years old - he doesn't need to go to Canberra. Give him a spell then have him firing for back-to-back games at home against Footscray and the other mob.

I feel like someone that big is best handled by constantly keeping them in motion.

Why do the MRP hate Sandi so much, that they make sure he has to go to Canberra next week. If it had been 1 of their favourites, like Fyfe, Ballas, Le Cras or Darling, they would have handed out the 1 week straight away.

Sandi signed up for the full season, not the "arm chair" ride.
I'd like to see how cranky he can get in Canbraaa

He signed up in 2016 and 2017 as well, and only managed 5 and 10 games respectively. He’s turning 36 this year. Does anyone really expect him to play 22 games (and maybe finals)?

If not, then when would you rest him? I’d have him putting his feet up for a few away games: GWS in Canberra, Melbourne in Darwin and maybe Geelong in Geelong.

We saw what happened when Chris Scott tried to push his 35 year old star too hard early in the season.

The assumption behind that theory is that he's going to break down because of fatigue. I think it's more likely to me that something, without warning, will probably get busted. Just like it did with Darcy. The main difference with his age is the time it will take him to recover.

Rest him if he gets sore but otherwise keep him running until he breaks, then patch him up and get him running again.

The fact that Sandi has played 15 out of 44 games in the last 2 years suggests that he’s got plenty of fuel in the tank. He’ll be in Business class so the big fella is looked after. All he’s got to do is strut his stuff for 2 hours. That’s enough for any opposition to worry.

Ross said on TV last night - and I believe - that Darcy was going to come into the side this weekend. I infer that the plan would have been to rest Sandi. I think that was probably a good plan. It is very unfortunate that Darcy injured his knee. I am really looking forward to seeing him back in purple again this year, I thought his emergence was one of the biggest positives from last season.

Darcy might have been coming in as a back-up ruckman. Tabs looks to me to have taken another step in his play this year, but he is getting absolutely towelled when he goes into the ruck, and our forward line looks pretty anaemic when he leaves the forward 50.

Sandi missed a big chunk of games when some unco idiot smashed up his ribs. You can hardly blame that on wear and tear or old age.

Not to me it doesn't. That's 34%.

Strange.

If he can take out Natannui in the next derby we should be ok but the west will probably organise a lynching if they can find a tall tree.
