Hawthorn went through a similar thing with Cyril. I think in his case they decided his body wasn't up to playing in the midfield, and although Walters has been pretty resilient he's so slight I reckon it has to take a toll. It turned out having Cyril close to goal leads to a lot of goals, even if he doesn't kick them all himself.
We went inside 50 59 times today, and had forward efficiency of 56%. Even if moving him back forward means we go in a handful of times fewer, you can't tell me we aren't more efficient when it's in there.
I'm sure Ronaldo is a pretty handy midfielder as well, and I'm sure he'd get the ball forward more often for Real Madrid if he played there more often, but you want your best players with ball when it comes to the most important kick.
We're moving the ball from the backline through the middle well, we just need some class in the last third. Walters is as classy a player we have.
Play him forward.
