Margetts out for GC. Umpiring tonight's game. In-unsure.

I reckon Margetts has mellowed lately, it is Dalgleish and Fisher that should never to be allocated Freo games.

Margetts hasn't mellowed, however he was not down to play for GCS tonight. The newer improved Margetts.3.1 (aka Williamson) along with McInerney and Hay were the listed umpires.

Does anyone else find Shane Mcinnerney (30) to be the most pernickety of the umpiring panel? Picks on things that you think, "oh, come on" and yet fails to see others. I'm not sure he's ever done much that is favourable to the Dockers. Just a perception on my part ....

That female umpire who couldn't bounce the centre ball loved us, for sure. All the rest are maggots.

I watched the game live, and then the first quarter on TV. And I thought the umps were very nice to us again. At the game it seemed that they started giving GC frees in the third quarter, but they were probably just trying to even up the free kicks. There were the usual weird frees against Sandi.

Bloody boundary ump on the Camfield side was useless. Struggled to throw it over his head.

I don't trust McInerney, he's in my blacklist of umpires I fear with Margetts, Stevic and Rosebury. I think Ray Chamberlain might have a split personality too, some days are diamonds but most days are stone.
Margetts should never be allowed to umpire a derby in the west, people I used to sit with tell me his wife is on the eagles Board, I'd love to know if that's true

Nah it's not CG, but HE is onboard with the eagles, they may have been confused about their boards.

For what it's worth, the high fend free kick seems to be another anomaly of the game. D Martin gets away with 10 or so a game, and watching news highlights this morning , Buddy dished one out before kicking the sealer for the Swans, not penalized , yet Fyfe gets pinged for a pretty innocuous push to the shoulder/neck. So much for the supposed leniency shown to Fyfe along with other stars of the game. The high frees against Sandi are also a joke, the GCS rucks were hanging an arm over his shoulder to anchor him at every ruck contest, without penalty, yet the one time he tries to push away the contact he is penalized.

I have a conspiracy theory that the umpires are deliberately bouncing the ball terribly to get it taken out of the game. They have been awful so far this season.

Mcinerney pinged us for the kick-out from a behind, having awarded a dodgy free kick to Suns which resulted in said behind. 7 point turnaround thanks Mr 30.
I'm curious to know whether the controlling umpire in every game watches every kick-out. Frequently on the TV coverage it looks to me as if a defender has some part of his foot over the line, but the detection/penalty seems to be very selective.
I suspect its when an umpire wants to be 'technically correct' ....and he is a past master at 'technical' decisions, a couple more of which we saw yesterday.
