Have to disagree about Mundy as a forward. He's shown for awhile now when resting there that he definitely knows what he's doing and doesn't need to learn how to play there.
Same for some the name players who spend the majority of their time in the midfield. Martin, Dangerfield , Fyfe, Bomtempelli are naturals who could just about play anywhere.

It's a different game drifting down there, with the option of being put back in the midfield when things aren't going your way, to being a starting forward. He'll only get better at it but it seems ridiculous to spend time developing Mundy as a permanent forward when he's not going to be around for much longer and there are players on the list who would love to be able to play in a structured forward line.

Not disagreeing with you, Shane but when did we get the structured forward line?

I think our forwards have spent more time behind the ball across both games this year. We are still to see if Roly is actually going to to agree to a structured forward line

Get your point, but surely we aren't going to use Mundy as permanent forward are we? I hope not anyway.

I think using him as a high forward is a great decision. As he is getting older it doesn’t require as much endurance and gut running as in 5ge midfield, preserving his body, it plays to his strengths he is good in the air, has great vision and reads the play well and can use his hand and foot skills as a link between half back and mid and the forwards. He also gives leadership to the forward line and seemed to help its structure. Tabener played deeper, he has a tendency to run up to the wing, but didn’t do this on Saturday he stayed in the 50 and provided a target. I think Mundy taking up the space Tabener drifts up into had a bit to do with this. Mundy’s Sublime field kicking and handpasses brought others into the game.

At this stage of his career I think this is a good thing.

And Mundy can show the young guys how its done. I get your point Shane, but as you know, Kersten is heading for the backline, so its Johnno who has to go out for him if your argument is to hold water.

Kersten isn't heading for the backline. Last week Ross couldn't fit Hambling in. A few years ago he wouldn't give Silvagni a game because the defender quota was full. Where would he put Kersten.

At half forward Shane, it seems to be the goto whiteboard position for a defender in RoLy's lineups.

Quasi, your post IS sublime, but there seems to be some subliminal advertising for the new Telstra 5g network in there somewhere.

Maybe Kersten is being groomed as an option fot next roaming backman when Johnno is over. We seem to have some good defensive stocks with Cox and a couple of others in the wings.

I'm guessing it was Roly that didn't give A Pearce a vote, perhaps he doesn't rate Daniher, but I'm pretty sure Worsfold would have been impressed with Pearce making his "superstar" look like a goose.
