I think using him as a high forward is a great decision. As he is getting older it doesn’t require as much endurance and gut running as in 5ge midfield, preserving his body, it plays to his strengths he is good in the air, has great vision and reads the play well and can use his hand and foot skills as a link between half back and mid and the forwards. He also gives leadership to the forward line and seemed to help its structure. Tabener played deeper, he has a tendency to run up to the wing, but didn’t do this on Saturday he stayed in the 50 and provided a target. I think Mundy taking up the space Tabener drifts up into had a bit to do with this. Mundy’s Sublime field kicking and handpasses brought others into the game.
At this stage of his career I think this is a good thing.
