Sicily's nose went out of joint early in the game - right after Scumwood sleazed his first free for a high tackle. That ended up with a 50m penalty and a kick from the goal square. He spent the rest of the game looking for any opportunity to nail that cheating knobber.

I reckon 95% of the football viewing public cheered him for taking the stand he did - those two sleazeballs should get a Davey Warner suspension.

Good on Sicily for having a crack at Selwood. Well worth 50 metres to register the football worlds's disgust with Selwood's cheating and the collusion of umpires and commentators in it.

Surely we've had enough of it by now. It's a blight on the game.

Watched that game and it's quite obvious the dislike of Smellwood by the Hawks players in general. Don't know if it's the same from other clubs.
I don't mind Dangerfield but I can't stand the leniency he gets from the umpires. Two absolute dead set holding the ball decisions in the last quarter but it's Danger so play on. Then you see poor old no name Joe Bloggs get pinged for something less a minute later.

It's possible to hate them both, right?

Selwood strikes me as someone I would hate on the field, but off the field would probably be an ok - if slightly boring - guy. Sicily strikes me as someone who would punch you in the back of the head at a pub if you gave him a sideways glare.

It was obvious the old chemistry was there between them from early on, with Joel Selwood and Razor Ray proving once again they share an almost telepathic connection.

If the AFL genuinely see the “Selwood shrug” as a contributor to concussion then their duty of care requires them to eliminate the practice.

My view, do it once in a game free kick, twice free kick and 50, three times report for deliberate endangerment,mandatory in game concussion test and a weeks suspension. That will eliminate the practice.

I don’t disagree, Corporal, but I think there’s a few players that the umpires give extra time to, Fyfe being one them. The reason, I think, the umps give players like Fyfe, Selwood etc. a few extra seconds is because chances are they’ll get the ball cjear faster than a ball-up or free kick will. All part of the AFL’s stupid mission to make the game more “entertaining”.
