I don't think you do see what they're trying to achieve. It's a brand tie in. The casino are a sponsor of the club. The casino are trying to equate going to the football with a day out at the casino.

Fremantle are helping them sell that idea. This helps establish the normality of families going to the casino when they go to the football.

It's awful.

Fair dinkum. There also happens to be 3 hotels under the umbrella "Crown". It says nothing about taking your kids and pets to the casino and while you're here, lets join the march. And by the way, it's your choice if you want to partake. Maybe I've missed the point but this is a harmless exercise, lets take it for what it is.

Putting aside the merits of the idea, it seems to me that a disclaimer would have been in order. FDB's point about them hopefully using the Matagarup Bridge once it is ready now turns into an interesting test for the Club.

I'm not entering into some sort of conspiracy territory here. It's called The Freo Fan March from Crown. It specifically starts from their pop-up bar. They are encouraging people to go there before the game - to the bar. It's not in dispute that this is a promotion for the casino.

Crown have a big campaign going to get people to make the casino part of their trip to football. Fremantle are in on that. They're using the cheersquad to do it, targeting families and children in the process.

Think about this. The mascots will inevitably be there. Jenny Docker will be used to promote the casino to young girls. You could barely get away with that sort of behaviour for breakfast cereal.
