I literally cringed when Throw Your Arms Around Me started. It's got its time and place, but that time and place is 3am in a share house full of uni students in the mid-90s, not a football game in 2018...or any time really.

Hip Hop now comprehensive dominates rock and roll when it comes to streaming rates. Rosich made a point that the old jumper 'wasn't cool with the kids' as part of the reason for the change, yet they make the poor kiddies listen to John Farnham, H&C and ACDC exclusively at the game. Would it kill them to throw some Kendrick Lamar or something in the mix every once and a while.

I didn't hate the Purple Rain thing as much as most people, but the club might have been overly optimistic about how willing people from Perth are to sing.

On the tv they had a few 'Player's Playlists' - Mike Walters' was Chisel's Flame Trees. He may have missed uni in the '90s, but that kid is all class.

We have to, absolutely have to get some King Gizard and the Lizard Wizard on board. Sure, rattlesnakes is 7 minutes long and the lyrics are pretty much just "rattlesnakes", but I think we should give it a shot!

And have you seen the band? They have to be Freo supporters. Either that or they're the current Dungeon and Dragons world champions.

When marketers go for the safest choice it often falls flat, which it certainly has in this case. Same with Collingwood and their 'Nothing Else Matters' shemozzle yesterday.

Port's 'Never Tear Us Apart' pre-game song works because they thought of it first. Fremantle now trying to do something similar with Purple Rain or Your the Voice is a lame imitation, and the fans know it.

TNT after the game works for the same reason - we were the first club to play a second song (apart from the club song) after a victory. We know it's a bit naff but it's also fun and was something a bit different at the time, so most fans get into it.

The challenge for Freo's marketing gurus was to come up with something that again could be embraced by the fans as something unique and quintessentially 'Freo'. Instead they have gone for the safe, lowest common denominator option.

Holy grail is an AFL anthem, and Horses is becoming one.

Well Mule, they are cut from a similar cloth to King Gizzard, but Pond and Tame Impala are big Freo fans.
