When the opposition has the ball I get most scared when they move it around outside 50m. They do so looking for an opportunity, or waiting for some movement from their forwards. And I get scared because they seem to score reasonably often when they do that.
On the other hand, when we get the ball near the 50m, it seems we don't have the confidence to chip it around, but feel under pressure to go straight in - hence the bad passes to Fyfe or Tabs.
Skills are what you need if you want to move the ball quickly around your forward line. If every pass has a 90% chance of working, you only need a string of 7 passes and your chance of turning it over exceeds 50%. But if each pass has a 95% chance of success, your chance of turning it over in 7 passes drops to 30%.
So even though it pains me, I have to agree with Yeti that we need better skills. However I think more composure will lead to better skills. So a bit less panic, and we'll be good.
