Our list is crammed full of skilful players, some of the best active in the league - Fyfe, Walters, Mundy, Neale, Brother of Bradley, Wilson, 211....there are more. Add in Johnno, Bradley-the-Yap; the Weasel, CamMac, Ballas, Matera, Langdon and others there should be heaps of footy talent/skill in the side. So when you see a season beginning game like yesterday's you've got to wonder wtf? I don't - it's clear where the problem is.
I've got a mate that's probably the best auto mechanic west of Dubbo. He enrolled in ceramic classes down in Fremantle a couple of years ago to broaden his interests. He's very good with his hands - from gearboxes to injectors - but his pottery was two categories below woeful. The transition of hand skills simply ended up producing baked clay wobble-gobs. His pottery instructor was first class by the way - in pottery.
I'm not sure if the game has passed RoLy by or not. But when all that talent and all those skills end up with wobble-gob someone has to admit that pottery, or shoe cobbling for that matter, isn't the field he should be in. You can't keep crashing a plane and fronting up as an airline pilot anymore.
