I think it's pretty clear Lyon has wanted it both ways. Rebuild is an excuse for poor performances, wins let him say everything is ahead of schedule.
Rebuild buys time, but for 3 years he's still played too many players not considered part of the future. Sure, they're needed for depth and experience, but he played them all regularly as long as they were fit.
I see the same old same old. We've got some very handy new players, who fumble it with the best. The endeavour is there, but the ability to play a coherent game plan is not. Same lacklustre i50s, and butchering it when it gets there. Skills remain poor, organisation remains disorganised, too many A grade players can't hit targets by hand or foot even when not under pressure.
But new blood is all we needed, and patience with them? Mine ran out long ago. Lyon isn't the bloke for the job. He manages to turn marquee players into crabs with his approach to football.
