Well I'm flabbergasted!! how can Joel miss out over De nile Pearce??

Does he need a milestone game to retire on?
Is he visiting family and this is the cheapest option/
Is it a smokey and on game day they will do the old switcharooney?
Is it team balance?
We leave out our premiership full back.
Can someone please kidnap DPearce and ship him offshore!

It's going to be a muggy 33 degrees in Adelaide on Saturday, in the annual first round cramp game. I can see the benefits in going in with a team with more runners. Johnno probably a bit lucky to make it ahead of Hamling, but perhaps they think he's a better match-up for Dixon.

I'm not sure why people get so upset about D Pearce and Sutcliffe. On that sort of day, who that's been left out of the team would you rather have in?

How are the two selections related?

Surely Luke Ryan, Nathan Wilson and Alex Pearce knocked out Hamling.

Well, technically there are 22 players selected ahead of Hamling, so I guess you could make the same argument about anyone...but given Johnno was named at full-back, which is where Hamling mostly plays, they are both tall defenders, and by all reports Johnno was a bit creaky in the pre-season, and we're building a list and Johnno is 33 years old, I thought if you were going to lose a tall defender it would be Johnno.

Am I missing something?

Well Morgan, since nobody mentioned Sutcliffe until you did, I rather suspect you already know the answer to your question.

So, how will this work? Two shellackings to open the season (like previous years) then talk about starting the rebuild (like previous years only this time we are serious. No don't laugh, really...)

Then when we take out the turn over merchants the results start improving somewhat.

Still, we play Essendrug in round 2 so heres hoping the improvement starts earlier this year.

I suppose looking at there forward line there starting six has 4 small quick forwards. only Dixon and Westhoff are talls.
there bench has two new players that's are tall forwards 198 and 199cm. and then they have Gray and barry at 179 and 176.
So we could get outpaced with another tall down back.
The more I look at the two teams I think people are over estimating Ports potential for top4 or 8!

The Sutcliffe diss was in another thread (I think subsequently deleted...or at least consolidated). But seriously, we've named a pretty good 22, chock full of blokes who take the game on, and yet people are antsy about one selection in D Pearce who in addition to miskicking a few times will run all day, take the game on, and give his all for the club.

But I'll ask again, on a 33 degree day in Adelaide, who would you select ahead of him? S Hill is injured, Logue seems a bit off, Sheridan is no better, Cerra is probably not ready and we've already picked two rookies and I'm not sure you want to carry more than that into a round 1 game against a premiership fancy.

It looks a good team to me. If we win, it's because we'll run them off their feet.

I doubt see any opportunity for a shellacking. this Freo side named is better than the Port side and I'm marking it up as our first win of the season closely followed by round 2 and 3 to start the season 3 zip!

You lot have been calling for Blakely to be moved to the midfield all pre-season. RoLy takes one last look at Dockerland before the selectors meeting and thinks " Maybe these guys are a bit smarter than I give them credit for" and thinks "How do I get Connor into the guts? Who do I replace him with?" " Well the only answer is D Pearce, we can't put Suttcliffe back there or Dockerland will have a meltdown that will make the Sydney Digger Driver SNAFU look like a teddy bears picnic"

Just be grateful that RoLy listened to you.

So really, it's a Clayton's rebuild. At this rate there could be another contract extension for Pearce.

Obviously Roly's brain would explode if he had to choose another youngster. Duman and North were bog's last week for Peel but too bad.

Why is Hamling supposedly underdone? He missed one game for a wedding and hasn't been injured. Had the most spoils in the competition last year but a 33 year old who hasn't really looked that great in the pre season comp is a better option?
