Seems to me a lot of people holding onto sour grapes since Harvey was sacked, and with a fall in success over the past couple of years using that to vindicate long held views.
I will be clear, I loved Harvey and was angry when we got rid of him, So much so that I rang talk back radio shows to vent this frustration. Once we became genuine contenders and gained the respect of the competition coupled with Pavlich’s assessment of Harvey in his book, I have to accept that the club got it right.
I remember thinking we had a very good group of players going into 2013, in hindsight maybe not so much. A player group that included Dawson, Spurr, Mzungu, Mayne, Duffield, Clarke, Sutcliffe, De Boer, and Suban, may have taken some reasonable coaching to attain this level. I love each and every one of these players and appreciate them for what they could bring, if you were to ask somebody from another club for their honest opinion, they may not be held in the same esteem. Looking back on this team does anybody truly believe that anything but an effort based game plan would have achieved more.
