My point is that most people - rightly in my view - credit Harvey for the rebuild he started at Freo. No-one seems too worried he faffed about for a year before he started it, despite it being obvious to everyone we objectively sucked before he took over the top job. Meanwhile Lyon seems to cop some stick for not starting the rebuild after the 2015 season when we finished top of the ladder.

"We had some one to kick to in our forward line." Well, I reckon the biggest difference is that we were actually kicking or delivering to our forwards...a big change from our last few seasons. Our delivery over the last couple of years to the forwards has been awful. Kicking it to the forwards' advantage, at least a 50% chance, is better than nowhere near them.

Geelong's last six years are comparable to West Coasts last 6 years in the nineties.
Best home ground advantage in the league got them into finals, but they got shown up as pretenders once they got there.

I’ll go with OW’s we are all in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars.
RtB got us to a GF and barring that stuff up last year we are now heading upwards, that’ll do me.

Comparisons with Sydney or Melbourne clubs is pointless and misguided when they have had or have clear travel and home ground advantages.

So Geelong, Sydney, Hawthorn and West Coast must ALL have the best home ground advantages in the league as they continually make the finals. Nothing to do with their coaches apparently.
Besides that a large number of Geelong's home games were actually played at the MCG, not Simmonds Stadium.
