You know how it works... Griff could go out and knock up 30 odd hitouts in less than a full game, kick a couple of lazy goals resting in the pocket and pull up ok and ready to go. The other bloke will do sweet (technical term for very little), take a mark and kick a goal and a heavenly choir will burst out in the paper for weeks proclaiming the second coming. As the season progresses it'll become patently clear the second coming was actually the Proclaimers and he's a busted flush but by then the cathedral's been built and weekly mass is being held so they'll just keep printing the same hymn sheet every week hoping business as usual will mean no-one actually reads past the pretty pictures and the collection plates are filled.

Situation normal. Institutionalised rorting.

Don’t forget NicNoStat made All Australian on the back of a couple of good grabs and a tonne of hype. There have been very few players in the history of the game who have been more overrated. Current career stats show him averaging 12 disposals and less than 2 marks a game! By comparison, 211 has more disposals, twice the number of marks and 30% more hithouts. NicNoStat .... flashy, yes....fantastic, no.

I was at the second coming at Shark Park. The messiah was out leaped by a 20 year old bean pole (Mick Cronen) on several occasions and bumped off his line at a boundary toss despite young Mick conceding about 30 kilos. Of course he was BOG.
