Jeez, am I right in saying that Nyhuis, Duman and Strnadica haven't got a run in any of the games this year? They might as well get their bags packed early for delisting if that's the case, particularly as Pearce, Sheridan and Sutcliffe have made regular appearances.
The only other players that I can think of that haven't had a run are the ever injured Apeness Logue-also injured, Bennell, Dixon, plus Jones and Switkowski who had injuries during pre season. Not sure about North.

These games are supposed to be preparation for the real thing in a few weeks.

If so, then I can't see any reason keep playing guys who are simply not best 22 material. We should be practicing our game plan and structures with a bit of experimentation for the younger players to see how well they will fit in and give them real game experience.

If not, then I can't see any purpose to them.

Continually playing Pearce, Sheridan and Sutcliffe simply does not make sense unless Roly considers them best 22 and starters for round 1. You can be as loyal to players all you like but the club should come first. None of those three should be considered anything but depth and should not be involved this weekend.

Unfortunately we have avery arrogant and stubborn coach. It took the utter humiliation of our team against port Adelaide last year for him to act. Then slowly he introduced them again before being humiliated again against Brisbane and Adelaide before dropping Pearce, Sutcliffe , Sheridan once more.
I fear the same again before he acts. This time though he will need to move on johnno as well.

I get your drift Yeti, From a man management perspective they have been training all summer and because of experience they deserve a go. If they are not good enough or others play better on Sunday then they should be moved down the list as soon as practicable and replaced. I reckon they would know that. Collectively they have cost the club a couple of million bucks. The return on Peace was worth it though for him and the others the last year has been marginal but arguably they are not the worst players in the list above. Just maybe they still have something to offer. But shirley time is running out on their careers if they fail to fire.
MJ had a good year last year imo and last week about all he did was run around and stretch his boots. I expect more from him this week.

This is about a B side as Ive seen apart from that S tKilda game that is......Roly must see something in DP because no-one else can! That goes for Sutcliffe as well.
Good luck with the rookies - with Giro missing Rolys back to his best.....you know if the Fist was still there ........
Banfield will make the first 22 but I cant wait to see what Cerra brings to the game - exciting times!!

The result of this game is irrelevant. It's easy for sideline gurus to write off players on a few gameday performances but this would be a total BS for a coach. Every player is a work in progress and every player has potential upside. The future is always uncertain for realists.

Agree the result is irrelevant, jimb2 but the performances of Sheridan, Sutcliffe and PearceD isn't based on a few gameday performances. It s a level of performance that goes back over years.

They are not a work in progress and have no upside. They are simply not AFL standard.

This game is important for only one reason, preparation for the season ahead. Playing known duds does nothing to prepare for the upcoming season
