You raise an interesting point Drubbing, especially considering the footbridge won't be ready for a while. I’m still considering the venues to review. I’m ruling out anything at Crown: it’s not my sort of place, and Packer has already been given enough of a free kick. That doesn’t leave much. Possible venues (in rough order of distance from the ground):
The Camfield (next to the stadium)
Skyview Bar (at the stadium)
The Royal (Claisebrook)
The Partisan (Claisebrook)
Blasta Brewing (Burswood)
The Carlton Hotel (East Perth)
The Grosvenor (East Perth)
The Point (East Perth)
Dutch Trading Company (Vic Park)
Anything I've missed?
For the record, the walk from DTC (at the bottom of Albany Highway in Vic Park) to the stadium is 26 minutes. It's a nice walk along the river on a nice day, but it's probably pushing it for a regular pre-game venue. Still, it's an option until the footbridge is finished.
I'm hoping that Gloucester Park is savvy enough to open up one of their bars on game day. I reckon it's the sort of place that might still sell reasonably priced jugs.
And Polly, I reckon a seat cushion stuffed with a hip flask might be the way to go.
