D. Pearce was given so much space by the Toilet players in the second quarter as we kicked out of defence because they knew he would turn it over - he did five times out of five, three direct kicks to unmarked opposition, two out of bounds on the full. I started wishing we still had Zac Dawson to kick it instead. he was that bad.
Sure, our players could have made leads - but i reckon they did, only he missed them by, on average, 10 - 15 metres. This seemed particularly weird given who our back 6 were, or could be.
As for Walters - he is a brilliant small forward. Blakely is a midfielder. The Hills are wingmen. Any messing with that is, as has been said here so many times, robbing Peter to pay Paul. The upshot is that putting Blakely in the centre means that Hughes and or Logue can go back, that Walters can go forward, that Sutcliffe, Sheridan and D. Pearce can go to Peel.
