I'm happy enough for us to take on Hird....think he was just completely naive with the Essendon saga. Don't won't to go back there, but all that Essendon stuff got past the club doctor, Dr Bruce Reid...who for many many years was, has been, and is, revered as a pretty competent character. If it can get past the club doctor and he can still keep his job, then, well it's not completely unbelievable that it can get past the naive, inexperienced, former club champion coach! .
I know many will disagree with the above, but, it's not like we contemplating employing Stephen Dank!.
If James Hird could be any use inspiring a bloke like Fyfe, I say we employ him. If he can teach some "tricks of the trade' to some of these up and coming midfielders like Brayshaw, Cerra and the like, then I say we employ him. If he could have some input to assisting our woeful forward line structure and setup - (he's been around and involved in pretty competent forward line set-ups in his time) - then, I say employ him!!
But there's the thing. All the roles I've mentioned above would be a great fit for Hird, and a great fit for Freo.
But, as an opposition analysis coach...I'm not so sure....
