It looks like (I hope) Ross is playing the likes of Sheridan, Sutcliffe and D Pearce early on, and then will revert to a side closer to preferred team nearer to round one. And, I would have to put Johnno in the same group. He looked slow, and that crucial one-two error with Sheridan was too familiar! Logue and Hughes are ready and have a lot more upside than any of the aforementioned.

Most consider Sheridan, D Pearce and Sutcliffe fringe players this year (although I'm a little higher on Sutcliffe), meaning with an 8-man interchange bench in the pre-season it's not a huge surprise to see them running around.

I didn't see the game, but the teams list had D Pearce lining up across half-back, which is something I've been hoping to see for a while. Did he actually play there?

He did spend some time there...but for me did not look comfortable or confident. He tried hard, applied presssure, but I think we have seen the best of D Pearce, and with many other younger players at the ready...the end is nigh.

I think Pearce and Johnno are going round this year as "known quantity backup" and will play when necessary, not week in week out (Pearce always goes well when his runs are spaced, and Johnno looks like he needs a couple of weeks off between runs.) What Sheridan and Sutcliffe are there for is beyond my imagination to perceive.
