Yes, first visit on the weekend.

Train from Meltham to Claisebrook then onto stadium took less than 15 minutes. Stadium-comfortable seating, magnificent cup holder, great view. Proximity to conveniences is excellent.
Tried the hot dog on Shane's recommendation. Hmmm. Had to buy extra squeezy sauce thingy plus a mustard one. Beer was like real beer. Yes a quick good tasting Alby at half time went down well.
Primed up for a drink outside the Sky View Lounge overlooking the river after the game-closed! Move to another bar then. Find out all bars and food venues are closed. WTF? Is this some regulation? How ridiculous. For a start it would alleviate everyone heading off to the trains at the same time, plus there is nowhere nearby to have a drink particularly until the tavern opens.
Get to train to take the same journey home but no, the train will not stop at Claisebrook but will go directly into Perth where we will have to change trains and head on out again. Sat on train at stadium for 10 minutes before it left and the trip into the city took another 10 minutes of stopping, starting and crawling.
So the good with the bad.

Are you sure? I can't believe I would recommend a hotdog to someone.

Nor do I remember eating one at the new stadium.

I did go to the hotdog stand at the Scorchers final, because there were no customers and three people serving, to get a Calippo.

This is how it went down.

Hi, could I please get 2 Calippos?

Two Chilli Dogs?

Calippo.

Sorry?

The iceypole thing.

Umm...

On the sign. Over there.

Umm...

and then I walked down to the freezer and pointed out where the Calippos were kept.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know we sold them. That will be $9.

The standing in the train for 10-15 while it was full before leaving happened after the game on the Jlup too, a pain the Rrs particularly for the older people in the cattle truck.
If the trains could fill and then leave ASAP it’d be better. I’m assumimg they don’t because they can’t get through Perth Station easily.

My 1st visit too. Ground, screens, sound, seats all good but as well as widening seats why didn't they make just a bit more leg room for when people pass you. The cup holder in front of me was already broken due no doubt from people squeezing past! Still q'd for ladies. Hubby found so many steps up and down at station then into stadium a bit of a pain but overall pretty good.

Shane, perhaps your sampling of all the Gage Roads products caused your thoughts of hot dogs to become muddled.

And yes Noddy, not only did it take 20 minutes of train sitting and crawling journey to get to Perth, but then you have the extra wasted time when hundreds of people get off the carriages and have to wait as they cram onto the escalator........which you know is bound to not be working at some stage during the year.

I like your thinking RM. Hoping you can arrange some escalator sabotage for that first home game.

I hope that cup holder mentioned by TeaSea isn't at my seat. I haven't been to the stadium yet, but the cup holder was the feature I was most looking forward to seeing and experiencing. After all it was one of the big promotional points that got me to fork out far more money for a season pass than is sensible. I'll be desperately sad if Mrs FB49 and I have to share one!
If those cup holders weren't there, they might have used the saved money to put an escalator at the railway station.

They were never going to put an escalator at the train station after this-

First visit on the weekend for me as well.

Travelled up by train from Cockburn to Betty's Jetty, then a bus to the stadium. No problems except when you get off the bus you have to either walk through a garden bed or on the road to get to the entrance.
The stadium was fantastic with no problems getting food or drinks on level 1. I was told by others who were on level 5 that the bars, etc did not take cash only paywave. Didn't have that problem where I was (block 114).
As a place to watch footy I think it's going to be the best in Australia. The only gripe I would have is that from where I was (row 20) you can't see any play close to the boundary line in front of you or 15m either side. It's a bit silly having to look at the (really awesome) big screens to see what is hapening right in front of you.
The saga getting home was as expected - painful. Nothing was open (for the average punter) after 3/4 time. As someone else has said, give me a bar and I'll nurse a mid strenght beer or two and something to eat while the crowds die down a bit and avoid the crush. We left long after the players had left the field, walked the approx 1 km to the stadium train station, squashed into a train which sat there for 15 minutes, joined the masses at Perth Central then rinse and repeat to the Mandurah train. Total time from stadium concourse to Cockburn was 90 minutes. I shudder to think what it would be like with a full stadium on a week night as this was a Saturday arvo and only about 25000 actually in the ground when the siren went.
My opinion - the stadium lives up to the hype and the transport lives up to expectations (and won't get any better).

PS Fantastic win by the girls and really enjoyed the game.

Something I read which came in handy was that the food places are colour coded.

So I think it was
-Orange is food and grog.
-Red is food.
-Yellow is grog.

Good overview Rusted. Craypot generally the bees knees but the transport issues will need a crowd funding exercise to build/provide better infrastructure to improve getting out of the place and home before sunrise the day after a fully filled stadium event.
